Just a FYI for all the Canadian orders: make sure you guys check the IEEE numbers on your switches before going through installing all of them. I know some have been patiently waiting, but May want to save some headaches.
Anecdotally, 14/17 installed have worked well to my hub. However, I started near the hub and built outward so now I’m having difficulty getting the further switches to join.
@Courtney_Inovelli I have yet to receive a tracking number. My order number is #18271. Would like to be able to prepaid any duties on it that might be due.
Thanks
I wonder how they calculate this. I ordered one 10pk and my duties was the same as yours.
First, it’s not duties its taxes, yes there is a difference. Sorry to be pedantic.
Taxes will be based on your destination province. So amurenbeeld is being charged 5% tax for AB (plus Canada Post processing fee) where I personally will be charged 13% tax for ON (plus Canada Post processing fee)
Does anyone know if we’ll be charged duties again for the replacements?
From my personal experience, yes we will be charged sales tax again unless Inovelli fills out the right forms for CBSA.
I do not know off hand which forms Inovelli would need to submit for the replacements to be imported tax free. However it is possible for Inovelli to import the replacements as “warranty replacement property and replacement parts supplied by a non-resident at no charge except for shipping and handling” canada.ca which means we would not pay tax again.
That being said, if we receive our replacements and have to pay tax we can then apply to CBSA for a refund (less the Canada Post processing fee) CBSA Informal Adjustment Request
I have had replacements of other stuff I bought from the US. I don’t recall the exact details but it was shipped with a note that said something like “Warranty replacement”
My package has moved around NJ/NY over 8 days… no idea what USPS is doing It’s frustrating but there’s nothing you can do. Finally said it was “processed through regional facility” for international distribution 2 days ago
Yay! My 4 switches just arrived! I’m in Canada. No taxes or duties were added for my package. I have not yet looked at whether these are in the bad category or not.
@Eric_Inovelli For all 4 switches the inside package was torn. I don’t know if this was a handling thing or a packaging design thing. Thought you would want to know. The switches appear to be physically OK though.
Appreciate the picture – we see the same thing on the Red Series from time to time, but it sounds like it’s happening more on the Blue Series
The good news is that we’re changing up packaging moving forward (had to cut some costs to offset some of the rising prices so we could keep the same price for everyone) and I think it will have more protection for the switch.
I feel ya. Mine has said “Processed Through Regional Facility” since Nov 10th. Canada Post tracking says “International item has left originating country and is en route to Canada”. Been refreshing both the Canada Post and USPS tracking multiple times a day… Very eager to get my hands on these switches.

I think most people would agree with saving costs on packaging is always good.
Sure packaging needs to look nice for store shelves but with online shopping I dont think most people care what the package looks like. I’d recommend you take inspiration from recent Sonos packaging. It was nice overall but didn’t feel overly premium like money was “wasted”. Also their packaging seemed like it would recycle easier.
At the end of the day people will forget about the packaging after about the first 30 mins of unboxing.
Please let us know if you received switches from the “bad batch” or not. While I don’t think the issues will affect me much since my mesh is quite dense, I have a friend with two defective ones he bought from Aaratech who is having range issues. If I get some good ones I’m going to do him a solid and swap with him and just do the replacement process myself.
Damn. That sucks. My buddy who got bad ones was able to get them working when they were within about 7ft of another Zigbee router. Was a PITA but at least they work.
One 10pk here in Canada. Just received them today and was very excited. Unfortunately all 10 were from bad batch. Now I got to figure out the replacement process.
Worse part is having to explain to my wife why we waited this long only to have to send them back.
Does anyone know how quickly replacements will be sent? Will this be waiting for the new stock in December or are there leftovers from the first batch that can be sent?
