The grounding screw is used when you install a switch in a plastic box (like outside). Other wise it is connected to the frame of the metal electrical box through the mounting screw.
Can the on/off switches be used for anything except lights? Looking at the instructions they say:
'CONTROLLING APPLIANCES & MOTORS
These dimming switches are NOT meant to control appliances. Please only use these for controlling lights. In addition, please DO NOT USE TO CONTROL FANS as it will ruin your fan’s motor. These switches are not built to control a fan or any motor.
As these aren’t dimming switches, in wondering if the above note actually applies, or not?
Omg… And apparently I just saw the Reds were back up on Amazon last night and this morning the sale is over! Fell asleep taking the damn manual last night!
When’s the next sale?
I would imagine @Eric_Inovelli will take advantage of a Cyber Monday…or better yet an Inovelli Monday?
I rather see a couple extra wires throw in the box instead of the faceplate. I feel most people are already replacing their paddle switches with the new Inovellis and wouldn’t need the faceplate in the box. Or they have multiple gang boxes and the faceplate is useless. Instead of having the faceplate, how about including a black, white, and green pigtail (maybe an inch longer than what’s being included now?). If people are replacing their toggle switches to paddles then I can see the appeal for the faceplate, but I would imagine those who are have toggle switches everywhere would want a Toggle version of the Inovelli. Just my $.02.
I agree with harjms comment. I have a stack of extra facelplates around that I have no use for. Generally, the faceplate is there or I’m installing into a 2- or 3-gang box where the single faceplate isn’t helpful.
