Oops, I was looking at @jeremykeen’s post. Two conversations merging in on each other here.
I’ve got a z-stick on its way, should be arriving Wednesday or Thursday. I’ll then get the firmware updated and report back on if the issue is resolved on my LZW30-SN.
Ok so the suggestion is to upgrade the firmware? I’ll grab a stick and try.
I’ve updated my LZW30-SN to the latest v1.17 firmware 14 hours ago, and the switch hasn’t turned itself off yet. At this time, I believe the firmware did in fact fix the issue, as it was previously turning itself off every few hours, and sometimes turning itself off even when the bulbs were on (pulling 60+ Watts).
I did have to do the update twice, as it got stuck 67% of the way through the initial update. Also, initially connecting the switch to the firmware updater software was a bit more involved than the instructions showed, as there was a time I had to input “the first 5 digits” in a popup, which wasn’t outlined in the instructions. I muddled my way through and managed to get it to work.
I’ve updated 28 switches, twice now and haven’t seen this pop-up. Next time, can you take a screenshot?
Yep, next time I update them, I’ll make sure to take a screenshot.
At that security prompt you should be able to hit “Cancel”. That is a popup that asks which security level you want to use. S2 unauthenticated, S2 authenticated, and S0. If you leave S2 authenticated selected then you will need to enter the DSK to authenticate. Hitting cancel there will make it not use any security and the update process will be much faster.
Sorry the KB is not up to date. I will make a note to update it. It was written back in the day when S2 wasn’t a thing.
For the record I am battling this and this popup did come up, but did NOT allow me to select which level of security. I’ll try again with my switch (see my starting from scratch thread) and take screenshots along the way. Goal would be S0 with the new app, but so far I haven’t figured out how to do it.
Are you using classic or new app?
@kreene1987 - Using neither. I gave up on ST after a couple of weeks. I have a ST v3 Hub I’d be willing to sell
Gotcha. Since ST ATC section I figured you were still on it.
Heading in the same direction… giving it one final try to appease the wallet and the wife.
The sale in May wasn’t terrible. ~$70 ish…I should’ve bought a spare
I think @Derek was referring to upgrading the firmware in the PC Controller software. That is where the popup to select security appears. To be honest, I wish every hub would popup and ask what security level to use.
Upgrading the firmware to 1.44 on my LZW31-SN (red dimmer) seems to have resolved the issue with the switch turning off.
