I have a really odd situation of a rogue light turning on/off based on a Z2M group. What’s odd is it only turns on in person, while in Z2M is shows it’s still off.
Not sure what to provide, so I’ll just provide some context to what I’m experiencing. If anyone is able to help, please let me know what else you may need to help me troubleshoot and I’ll follow up with those things.
Background:
- I have a main area in the basement that has a bulk head that splits the ceiling in half.
- On one side, a single pole switch turns the nearest 4 down lights on/off/dim. On the other side of the room/bulkhead, there’s another switch that turns on/off/dims the 4 other nearest down lights to that switch.
- The names of the switches are ‘Front_Dimmer_Switch’ and ‘Back_Dimmer_Switch’.
- Both are part of a Z2M group - ‘Main_Lights’. They are the only two things in this group.
- In this main area, beneath the bulkhead is a utility closet. The utility closet has a Hue light in Z2M called ‘utility closet light’.
- I have programmed BOTH Inovelli Blue 2-in-1 switches (via a HA blueprint) in the main room so that when UP is double pressed it calls the Z2M group ‘Main_Lights’ which turns ON both switches, and vice versa for OFF.
- When I turn Main_Lights on/off the utility closet light visibly turns on/off as well. However, in Z2M the utility closet light is showing it’s OFF. Somehow it’s going rogue based on the Main_Lights grouping.
My Goal
- Double press up/down on either switch to turn on/off ONLY the main lights connected to each switch.
- Hold up/down on either switch to brighten/dim ONLY the main lights connected to each switch.
Troubleshooting to done to date
- In the blueprint, I stopped using the ‘Main_Lights’ group for on/off and just used each device separately. Not desirable though because sometimes both lights are out of sync in when, brightness, and if they turn on. Doing so no longer turns on/off the utility closet light.
- In the blueprint, I still use ‘Main_Lights’ group for holding up/down for brightening/dimming lights on both sides. However, when performing either action, the utility closet light turns on or off. Again, Z2M doesn’t correctly reflect that the utility closet light is on if it’s actually on.
