My current setup has three dumb switches that control two lights, one on each side of the bed. Any time you flip any of the switches, both lights turn on or off. I want to be able to turn the lights on and off separately, as well as use Home Assistant for scenes for double taps for turning off both lights and such.
What I want is to be able to:
-
Hit switch A (by the door) and BOTH lights come on/off.
-
Press up/down on switch B (my side of the bed) and just my light turns on/off.
-
Press up/down on switch C (her side of the bed) and just her light turns on/off.
-
Be able to create scenes where a double tap on one side of the bed turns off/on both lights.
I already have or can get a hot and a neutral to each switch box and there are lots of travelers:
-
Two travelers (purple and brown) from A to C and then from C to B.
-
Yellow from B to B’s light and then to C’s light.
I am thinking wiring up a 2-1 Red to light B in single pole config and a 2-1 Red to light C in a single pole config.
But what do I do about switch A? Can I use a 2-1 Red and not have it on any load, and just use it as a remote via scenes?
